In 1947-1948, over 60% of the Indigenous Palestinian population (800,000 people) were dispossessed of their land and driven from their homes by Zionist militias who went on to found the state of Israel. Palestinians call this process of ethnic cleansing, Al Nakba, or 'The Catastrophe'.
On May 15th 2008 Palestinians and their allies will mark the 60th year of Al Nakba and will highlight the Palestinian struggle against the racism, colonization, Apartheid and military occupation imposed by settlers via the Zionist Movement and the foundation of the state of Israel. Since then, there has been an ongoing, systematic and definitive destruction of Palestinian lives, livelihoods, lands, heritage, and future. The daily crimes of the Israeli Occupation need to be stopped. Palestinians need to be allowed the right of return and justice and liberation must be assured in Palestine and for the Palestinian people.
